I prefer iphone to N900.
iPhone is handsome
iphone seems te be just a way to get the customer out of money. all functionality is restricted and must be bought. or you just cannot do that like in the case of voip.
Still no perfect device yet.
iPhone doesn’t have enough freedom. Not unlocked, can’t load any app, can’t install own SDHC memory, can’t replace the battery, non-standard connector.
N900 is still a bit raw. Limited apps at the moment (OVI needs strong commitment and development), no multitouch, no compass, no AT&T 3G freqs???
Both phones need dual SIMs and all 3G freqs in US, Europe, and Asia.
but still , i didn’t like the nokia n900 i think iphone is much much better . i mean the size the weight the price and the design which matters a lot to the costumer too.
n900 is better than iphone just by some few non-important options.
who’s with me?
FM TUNER
that should be “there’s an app for that” for N900 cos that needs to be installed from the repository!
Iphone is a way way better option. N900 is better in some irrelevant things.
Sorry iPhone-lovers, but I’m an N900 fan.
I don’t like all of the restrictions that Apple places on ALL of their products. Sure, RGB, there is no ‘perfect’ device yet, but if we’re comparing the two devices, then I’m going with N900 (…I just wish the price wasn’t so high). Although, that didn’t stop me from buying the N95 only a month after it’s release ($750 (+tax = $820) ). Nearly three years later, it’s still my only phone (not a bad investment if you look at it that way).
I am with N900.I believe that with the support of the Linux community and the S60 who are tired of S60 and need something more(well and the developers) the N900 will be loaded with apps in no time.(and that’s what matters in a phone like that not the weight nor the size)
I love Apple, and I prefer my iPhone.. The nokia n900 isn’t better then the iPhone at all.. Besides nokia makes junk.. I will stick by apple. Can’t wait to see apples new iPhone..
I have iphone 3g and really hate some few essential features they lack inorder to release the next iphone. When industry is leading with 5-10 MP phone cameras apple come up with 2 MP than 3 MP.
I am about to sell my iphone 3g and going for Nokia N900. This new phone has a class has tons of features. It also have battery life which lacks in iphone. I got late so many times for my office be4 i put on alarm on iphone and it battery drains be4 the wake up call total BS.
I hope Ovi store will add some more applications. But ya definitely will go for N900.
N900 comes packed with so much punch, that an Iphone just cannot compare. I got one about a week ago and just love it, love it. Apps will surely come with the 900 and the point about the iphone having more apps will no longer be too relevant.
iphone is to mac… It’s Fun, It’s cool!
n900 is to linux… It’s Open. geeks toy.
Damn i want the toy… quite expensive toy thou
Guess i have to wait for the next upgrade model of n900. first release are always a testing platform.
N900 is better
iPhone doesn’t have multitasking feature. That really sucks! A smartphone should multitasking feature. iPhone’s multi-touch is cool and there is no doubt about it. But, for geek type of people n900 is much better than iPhone.
nokia n900 is an i phone killer its sleek and every fin u wont its a mini laptop in yor hand absoloutley superb NOKIA N900 i phone killer
yea for sure iphone because N900 has got all no non-important options like qwetry keyboard nd etc nd itz dosen’t look smart at all
N900 > iPhone.
iPhone is really a deeply flawed product, more like a toy. In addition to the above comparison table; you can’t even multitask with the iPhone. However, if you go onto Youtube you can find a video of someone running 32 applications simultaneously on the N900. And thanks to the opensource platform, the N900 has huge potential.

You are just another one of those who buys phone for “design” and “logo”. N900 is better than iphone in EVERY technical aspect it has except “design” (btw there are some people who like N900’s design more than iphone’s), compas and useless multitouch. Dont buy at amazon – their prices are about the same
The thing is that iPhone 3GS appeared long time before n900 and iPhone was bought by 1000000 of people , soo the price has to be lower than nokia’s , but still N900 is a very wise choice too !Some say there r 100000 apps for iPhone , but 10000 of them r useless ! Some say games r the best for iphone , but n900 suports flesh 9.4 + maemo just starts creating apps ( in short time u will also have cool apps , and cool games ) /// still I can tell u – right now there is no big deal \\\ U should chose the one u like the most by what u aclualy want from it ( for ex.: good camera , or cool multi touch ) .
I’m with you bro!
i have nokia n 97 and i need iphone,i had only nokias and samsung’s..and when i saw what can you do with iphone…i quit nokia…size, design, etc!
Iphone has no root access…
I have the N900 its an amazing phone! and alot more fetures than the i phone!
I could have had the i phone for free and a good deal with the contract but iv paid alot to sort my self out an N900!
The Iphone is too bulky for pocket, the touchscreen wouldn’t be acurate enough for the N900’s browser resolution, multi touch is pointless and the Iphone is seriously lacking behind in hardware features anyway.
The N900 is lacking behind badly in the department of Apps yet 95% of Apps are completely pointless when you have a descent web browser and OS. VNC and joikuspot are the only Apps which I require.
I don’t think that you can go much wrong with either devices but you get more for less with the N900 in my opinion and I’ve owned both.
You’re forgetting the most important part. The Nokia N900 can display Adobe Flash 9.0, whereas the iPhone is pitifully lacking in this area. This means that every Flash-based video, web component, application, and even whole websites are completely blank on the iPhone. That’s pathetic. Apple can brush this off all they want, but, sooner or later, a user is going to run into this limitation.
Worse, the main reason for the limitation is so that Apple can retain control of the apps that run on the phone. Everything has to go through their approval process, and through their App Store. That’s a level of control I’m not ready to give up just yet. I’m just so happy that someone has finally come out with a decent smart phone that has similar features, but caters to users instead of a corporate finance model.
I’m not with you PG-expert. I prefer N900. it looks good and has all the features I can hope for, for a mobile device. I can do just anything I want on the go.n900 is better in a lot of important points and aspects. And those points are but considerable in every mobile user. You can browse http://maemo.nokia.com/. ty
N900 FIGURES MOST OF IPHONE FEATURES. NO COMPASS.. WELL APPS. IT’S STILL RAW… BUT IT WILL BE A KIKASS
Are u serious? Non-important! I used the iPhone 3GS for nearly a year (June-Feb) and by the end of it, I was so sick of all the restrictions of the device. N900 is the phone that is made to be tweaked and changed to your liking in every possible way. No regrets from changing over to N900. The N900 is great for me as it really has no restrictions. Anything is possible on this phone- no joke. The iPhone is made for all the people who really got no idea. The N900 is made for the real techys who know how to actually use a phone. It truly is a handheld COMPUTER with phone capabilities.
I just got my N900 and I have had an IPhone and this thing crushes the IPhone. On top of all the things it has and the IPhone doesn’t or charges you for, its Linux based… so you know what that means. Yep, free apps and games are on the way!
I wouldn’t call the physical keyboard a non-trivial feature. Neither the fact that the OS is opensource and fully custumizable (there’s a LCARS layout for it!).
I can call the iphone’s “advantages” trivial – such as the multi-touch, which is nothing but a toy. The iPhone doesn’t have a ssh client available, and I value that a lot – the n900 has one. The n900 can also run a large number of real programs, such as OpenOffice and the Gimp.
In my opinion the iPhone makes for a better toy. The n900 is a more programmer/geek oriented machine with more serious development.
Not this time for n900, still too young. Maybe n1000. I still go with iPhone.
n900 is obviously more superio to the iphone, though the iphone is still a good device. my vote goes for n900, im getting myself one in just a few days, hopefully its a major upgrade from my n82
iphone sucks in my opinion. I prefer nokia n900 much more. In fact I have nokia n95 8GB since 3 years, and it’s still supriseing me, from time to time.
I Like the Nokia Phone than the iPone and the Nokia is more free than the iPone, and I have already purchased the Nokia N900 but I could not edit on to the word and excle file, if you know than please let me know on the above email address.
Thanks
Dauod from Afghanistan
Why most of the mobile manufacturer doesnt have a mobile cam that we can use while we are chatting our family while we are in the desert. It will help us to talk and see our loveones almost in person.Anyway i have nokia n 73 and i love it.I prefer to buy nokia because i tested it already.
N900 is cool, fast, application gadgets and yet cld do with some more applications downloaded but i wld prefer the n900 to iphone.
come on people u know very well the iphone do not stand a chance against n900.iphone is 4 kids,y would i buy a phone which dont even have basic features.n900 is the way people,or htc hd2 any one.i had the 2 first iphone just garbage, useless apps.let me give my top 5 mobiles by facts-(1)n900 (2)htc hd2 (3)motorola droid (4)google nexus one (5)iphone 3gs.RESERCH YOUR SELF,FACTS IS FACTS.
iphone is a lot better! n900 is very deep and hasn’t got as many apps as the iphone!
Well, nothing´s mentioned about the fact that you can run many apps at once on the n900, you cant oon the iphone, you need to charge the n900 every few dasy, up tio a week if not used much, the iphone ´s dead after a day, you can open docs, pdfs, flash, xls documents on the n900, none of these on the iphone… and on and on and on…
the iphone is a nice toy, the n900 is a powerful professional tool.
a lot of you are just going with iphone because it is the most popular phone out right now, iphone is now outdated
Quote: “n900 is better than iphone just by some few non-important options.”
I’m sorry not important? Is having:
5MP vs 3MP not important? Is having a flash not important?
Is having freedom and liberty (such as root access), the possibility of another 16GB, the higher resolution, the ability to use a stylus ie precision, having a hardware keyboard (tactile feedback), the ability to change batteries, the possibility of playing nearly all video/audio formats, an FM transmitter, an open OS with many open source games and apps (nearly all free)…and finally having a mozilla based browser, with full flash support…
Are these not important to you?? Are looks really more important than all these? Besides the N900 is smaller in height and width. I much prefer a fatter phone than a wider phone. It fits better in my pocket. The only real downside to this device in regards to ergonomics is weight. I can’t deny that.
But in nearly all other categories..the N900 is much better. And I am including applications. Apps and games are coming out at a fast rate, and so are tweaks to the operating system.
iPhone has always been more appealing to me even though I’ve been a Nokia user for years but playing a cat and mouse jail-breaking game isn’t what I’m looking for… Every new firmware requires a different technique, if you reset your phone, here you go, its locked again… No thanks, I’ll stick with N900…
ofcourse Nokia N900 because it is an open platform device full web browsing with Adobe flash 9.4 and full qwerty iphone is much expensive now than nokia n900 well have to wait for maemo apps thats where iphone only beats nokia n900 in hardware and o.s n900 is much better rather than the touch interface
I’ve never liked to be fanatic about any manufacturers nor products althought switched and worked on Macs for over 4 years now (12 on PCs). I like Apple for putting a lot of thought into design, usability, features and in particular thoroughness in UATs. This is something that other companies are lacking these days and under marketing pressure release buggy products like Nokia did with the N73 that has been with me for 4 years now. On the other hand, I don’t like Apple’s attitude towards their customers and constraints they are putting on them. Isn’t it all going towards open source direction or are they becoming so greedy like Zorg in The 5th element movie? For me it’s like buying a home with a contract on it not allowing you to refurbish inside to make it work for you better or else you loose waranty.
Therefore, I’m going for the N900 to avoid Apple’s products which are becoming just as proprietary as Microsoft – I like to have the choice of how I use and adopt products to my day2day usage especially if there are no irreversible changes made do them.
Also, what turns me off is advanced use of marketing psychology in Apple’s marketting – it’s really uncecessary because if a product is good it’ll usually market itself or spread by word of mouth. I agree, they can be funny but if you look at them from different angles then all they want is to become a passive/dumm user that should not be thinking too much or trying out new things/ideas.
It make me laugh when people are installing tones of useless apps on iPhone just to show off they can have a virtual pint of beer – go to a pub and have a real one instead!

PG-expert -
I don’t expect a COSTUMER to appreciate anything other than weight price and design either
Thanks! I had a good laugh
i like iphone 3GS models but i like nokia N900 applications. so, im confussion b’cz nokia N900 too large and not practical in the palm of the hand but the iphone 3GS feels good in the hand. I’ve held my friend’s. very nice, but why its features are not complete? if the Nokia N900, difficult to grasp and often fall in my face or body. bletak bletak. bletak all day long. I was tired with the mobile phone. 3GS iphone if only just a little different, I would certainly choose the iphone 3GS. I was in desperate need of his office that is a power point but after I checked, was not there but there’s at 3GS iphone nokia N900
My 2 year contract with AT&T just ended with Iphone 3G 16gb.
I’ve got N900 and probably going to T-Mobile(didn’t do my homework yet in term of provider).
What can I say for Iphone?
CONS: battery life, none multitasker, cranky voice, money sucking device
PROS: Shortly – it is Apple
For N900
CONS: none multitouch, ovi maps
PROS: battery, voice quality(Nokia), keyboard slider, double cameras with flash, embedded Skype and SIP is perfect(wish video to work, may be soon) and finally opensource linux with tonns of available software.
RESUME:
My first day with N900 was disappointing but with each day of diving in it’s features I was getting more and more confident that I made right choice.
n900 sucks..by the way i own 1.
i think iphone is much better unless the nokia company is giving me a free n900 phone…
but nokia is 1 step closer to beat the iphone
iPhone is so OLD now – no more mystery surrounding it – everything is locked. N900 is open platform – appears that the next iPhone seems to have copied a lot of stuff from N900 (camera, multi-tasking, etc.).
No one is with you PG-expert. You need to go to other sites and check out the n900. Nothing can compare. Talk that!!!!!!!!1
I like the iPhone except for it’s unreliability, battery life and cost. I do like the apps you can get though.
The n900 is a very solid performer with Maemo (Linux) OS. Having multiple apps open is only good for me if I can get similar apps to iPhone’s downloadable apps.
Also the new iphone 4gs could knock the n900 off its perch!
The spec’s of the n900 show’s it is a better phone/pc than the iPhone though. Undecided.
just bought N900, 1 week ago
superb, min computer inside your pocket.
tak rugi satu sen pun
But n900 has terminal. It’s really useful. Also you can enter to root in n900. So it dont need jailbreak…and so on so on. I think n900 is better.
i think the iPhone is better. it has a multitouch system that is smoother than any other device till now .and i prefer iPhone ofource instead of that n900. and sure RBG i agree with you about Both phones need all 3G+4G freqs in US, Europe, and Asia. and about that dual SIMs < i dont think so …to be honest ..that seems cheap!
and im with PG-expert .
I bought the n900
Im not with you on that one… Not being to change the battery is a big thing have you checked how much it cost to get a new battery from apple and the time you are wasting.. And ringtones that you dont have to purchase is cool i like to change my ringtones alot.. i get tired listening to the same boring ringtones on a cellphone.. and the resolution on n900 is like alot better.. Ever try taking picture at night with an iphone.. n900 has a bright flash so your getting an digital camera too.. And i like the thought that only a few people have a n900, It seems everywhere i look now someone has an iphone. don’ get me wrong iphone is a great phone and i used to have one but it’s days are numbered…
my hubby is using N900 & i’m using iphone 3gS. we both agreed that the iphone is more user-friendly
Nokia N900 is far superior to the Apple Iphone.
The Linux Operating System is Freedom.
To install any application/programs you wish and is FREE.
Iphone you just PAY & PAY.
People just have to forget about Microsoft & use Linux then they will understand the speed & FREEDOM you have with the Maemo Linux Operating System.
N900 . . . much more freedom!
I say n900 is way better the iPhone because it is way easier to use and faster when and a rush or emergency soft screen wise and stead of Mac ways of scrolling down u have to keep going and going it like OK I’m in a hurry way dose it have to act like a digital filer, that’s why we are in the digital age to make it easier not just look good but a device you can set up for your own uses not the companies. So Nokia N900 got my vote all the way.

plus one thing i never got is if u gonna make a $200 phone and you suppose to be the best why not make the best camera the first time? Mac is Ignorant.
If you jailbreak your iPhone 3Gs than you can install any app for free, you can watch avi, divx, xvid and any movie file and listen any music file with yxflash-player from cydia, you can access root directory with iFile-browser, no one needs kick stand, i dont need front camera (never used), dont need more memory (microSD), 16 GB is enought for me. but i need compass, and MULTI TOUCH so i vote for iPhone but the camera could be 5MP and bluetooth should be more compatible with devices. In case if you like to send and receive files via bluetooth need 5MP camera and high res display and not play awesome games and not installing awesome apps then go for N900
the dimensions is not very important. even if it is too large or small, heavy or light, you will be used to it, if you buy it. what important is, that you can do what you want with it the most.
these devices will never be perfect, because at the time one will have a new feature, a new feature will be invented, and it does not have it.
for me, apple products can be called luxury. it cost a lot.
so i prefer n900.
one thing,
can you make an iphone app?
also multi-tasking.
a big complaint to the apple iphone is that you cannot run applications at the same time.
in n900, there’s no problem.
I am crazed to get n900, iphone needs more time to compete nokia.
if u need total solution go for N900.
I think the N900 will be better. It got what I need “more memory” to me it’s better
I purchase would purchase the N900
1 because of the keyboard
2 more pixels, better camera
3 they are unlocked can be used with multiple carriers
